Shwetasree Majumder

Shwetasree is the Managing Partner of Fidus Law Chambers, a firm she founded in 2008. An alumna of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, she balances her leadership role at Fidus with an active litigation practice.

A seasoned litigator, Shwetasree has appeared in over 500 matters before the High Courts and the Supreme Court of India. She has been appointed Amicus Curiae by various benches of the Delhi High Court and served on the six-member committee responsible for drafting the Delhi High Court (Original Side) Rules, 2018.

Internationally, Shwetasree is a Panelist with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and adjudicates domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP). She is part of a select international team formed by WIPO and the Internet Commerce Association (ICA) to conduct a review of the UDRP.

From 2013 to 2015, she served on the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA), becoming the first woman from India to hold the position. She currently serves on INTA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Council and the Enforcement Committee, contributing to policy discussions on cutting-edge issues including artificial intelligence and the metaverse.

Shwetasree is a regular speaker at both international and national platforms, including events hosted by WIPO, INTA, PTMG, the World Customs Organization (WCO), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Indian Customs, the Delhi High Court, National Judicial Academy, Delhi Judicial Academy, and the Academy of Smart Policing.

Her contributions have earned her wide recognition, including being named a Global Leader by World Trademark Review, a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation, a Trademark Star by Managing Intellectual Property, one of India’s Top 100 Lawyers by India Business Law Journal, and among WIPR’s Influential Women in IP.

She has authored the India chapters of Brand Protection Online and Trade Secret Protection (Globe Business Publishing, London), as well as Design Law (Edward Elgar Publishing, London).

She actively participates in leading international IP forums, including INTA’s Annual and Mid-Year Meetings, the MARQUES Conference, and the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG) Spring and Autumn Meetings.

Beyond her legal work, Shwetasree is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and actively mentors young professionals. She is also a passionate advocate for the Indian handloom industry, frequently writing and speaking on the preservation and promotion of traditional textiles.
