For us at Fidus, giving back to society is one of the cornerstones of the firm.
Our outreach programs are about passion, inclusion, community service and growth.
From our academic outreach to our work with a variety of NGOs, Fidus is consistently educating, helping, empowering.
Fidus has also signed the Leadership Pledge with The Global Business Collaboration for Better Workplace Mental Health.
In its commitment to support expanding the reach of legal education and training beyond university classrooms, to encompass all stakeholders and create awareness at the school level, members of Fidus are engaged in a variety of academic outreach programmes such as partnerships with IDIA and iProbono to set up internship programmes for marginalised students. With a view to create opportunities for sexual minorities, Fidus is also a partner with Pride Circle’s 100 Interns programme.
The firm endeavours to continue supporting people in need through a structured and institutionalized philanthropic initiative under the aegis of ProFidus, the firm’s charitable arm.
In August 2021, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting slump in the handloom sector, ProFidus launched a nationwide competition titled “Fidusti” to encourage innovation in the Indian handloom industry. Weavers, designers, artisans, and creators from across India were invited to present an innovative handloom-based product or process. The competition received 35 entries from 9 states, and 4 winners were selected for their outstanding contributions.
ProFidus found multiple opportunities for community intervention during the COVID-19 lockdown, the Delhi riots, and the Amphan cyclone in Eastern India. The firm reached out with groceries and essentials to more than 25,000 people, rebuilt homes, rehabilitated people who were out of jobs, provided legal aid, and sent children back to school. The firm’s community spirit and contribution towards positive impact on the society was honored with the INTA Members for a Better Society Award in November 2020.
ProFidus has also supported a unique farm to market initiative which involves the revival of a medium staple, wholly rain fed, pest & drought resistant variety of naturally coloured brown cotton in a village in Karnataka, its ginning, spinning and conversion into yarn that is naturally dyed to form textile products. This project titled Kandu aims to create employment, reduce the carbon footprint of the fashion industry and thus foster ecological sustainability, social justice, and economic stability. ProFidus also believes in the powerful role that sports can play in community building. In 2024 it donated 50 football boots for underprivileged children in 16 villages of West Bengal and on Womens’ Day in 2025, it signed an MoU with Adelante sports, to support its Footy Femmes initiative, which empowers underprivileged girls by providing them football training and life skills. Fidus is committed to acquiring and building up a football stadium for the use of Footy Femmes and to provide the equipment and infrastructure that will help bring more underprivileged girls into its folds.
